Editorial standards
How we report.
We take care with the stories we publish and the people we cover. These standards guide how we choose stories, check facts, and handle mistakes.
Choosing stories
We choose stories for their relevance to Athens, significance, and available evidence. We check factual claims and distinguish reporting from opinion. Prominence or a business relationship alone does not justify coverage.
Sources and credit
We identify sources where appropriate, credit contributed work, and obtain the necessary permissions before publication. Do not send confidential source material through a public form.
Conflicts of interest
We disclose material relationships with the people and organizations we cover. Stories involving a material conflict of interest require independent review before publication.
Advertising
Paid placements are clearly labeled. Sponsors do not control story selection, conclusions, recognition, rankings, or corrections.
Corrections
We review reports of factual errors and make warranted corrections alongside the affected story. Material corrections explain what changed.
